5 Mistakes To Avoid When Growing Marijuana

The legal cannabis market of North America was valued at $ 6.7 billion in January 2017.

It’s an appealing idea to invest in that market, but to smokers, it might be more appealing to just grow the plant yourself. But if you get it wrong, you’ll end up with a disappointing crop.

Here are 5 key mistakes you must avoid when caring for your weed.

Not testing the soil pH
Acid to alkaline scale is measured with a unit called ‘pH’. Cannabis plants prefer a very slightly acidic soil, hitting around 5.5 to 6 on the pH scale.

The garden center where you buy the soil should be able to help you pick a suitable degree of acidity.

However, it’s still a good idea to test your soil to make sure it’s OK. Otherwise, your weed might not as much as you’d hoped.

Not testing the water pH
Just like with soil, cannabis is very sensitive to the pH of the water you use. For the best results, you want to be using water that’s between 6 and 7 pH.

This helps the plants absorb nutrients effectively, which in turn helps them grow.

If the water from your taps is too alkaline, you can add other substances or buy filters to lower the pH – but do not overdo it and push it too far the other way.

Overwatering your weed
If you were not a keen gardener before, do not fall for the common mistake of watering your plants too often.

They do not need to be topped up every few hours. If the topsoil feels dry to the touch, feel free to give them a splash – but if it’s still moist then do not add any more water.

Make sure that there’s adequate and unblocked drainage underneath the plants too, so that excess water can run out once the soil is soaked. Otherwise, it’ll pool at the bottom of your pots, which can cause problems.

Not keeping the plants warm
Cannabis does best in a warm climate. If you do not live in one, do not expect your plants to do very well outdoors.

How to grow weed if you’re in a cold country? Bring your plants into a greenhouse or other covered area, and kit it out with heat lamps. A target temperature of around 75 ° F is just about right.

Make sure there is decent ventilation, but not so much that you are getting cold from drafts. And if the plants are inside, remember to make sure there is also plenty of light.

Not thinking about the strains
There are hundreds of cannabis strains. You need to know what you’re growing for two very reasons.

Firstly, if you’re going to sell this, you need to know exactly what you’re selling.

Secondly, if you’re growing multiple strains you need to make a clear schedule detailing which strain is growing where, and research the different needs of each.

Cannabis strains can have very different requirements for healthy growth. So you need to be on top of what’s what, and make sure their needs are being met.

You plants may mature at different times, and you need to make sure the harvests are timely and efficient.

Good luck!
Growing cannabis is not as easy a task as it first may seem. But it can be hugely rewarding.

You never know what the quality of the pot is like at your local dispensary. But you can ensure the quality of your own crop if you keep it healthy.

5 Beautiful Walk Walk Garden Ideas for Your Home

This summer, do not leave flowers that look ho-hum.

Check out these 5 beautiful garden path tips.

1. Take the First Step
The stone walkways are always stylish. They appeal to everyone – especially children. They love using it for their summer lime art!

The stones come in different colors. You can choose the one that best suits your style.

Consisting of large rocks placed on gravel, this pathway allows you more creativity and flexibility in your page design. You can put gravel in whatever form you like.

You can also decide if your path will be a single file, or if it will accommodate two people side by side for a leisurely stroll. Single file paths are usually used for access around the home side, or to a warehouse, for example.

2. Leading the Way
The park path is not about getting from point A to point B. They are enjoying the journey.

The winding road through the beautiful gardens is healthy for you. They help your brain relax. Create peace in your home garden by using a curved track.

Curved paths create a sense of calm. They can also help a few small yards feel bigger because of the prolonged spaces of movement. This informal line works best when surrounded by lush vegetation. Plants that stand about 6 inches to 1 foot in height are very suitable.

Try large, hairy plants such as lavender or mondo grass to help perfect your quiet garden space.

3. Stay Straight and Narrow
The straight path provides a more formal vibe. They are paired with colonial-style homes and larger courtyards, though they work well with any space.

Lean to a plant that you can trim and set. Box boxes and patterned hat sheets all fitted with crisp and clean lines from straight paths.

To add interest, consider the trellis covered with colorful flowers. Those with larger yards may invest in water facilities or small pools.

Small page Setting pavers on diagonal will lengthen space. You can even grow the moss between them to feel smooth.

4. Select your Palette
Whether you decide to create a zen garden or a garden inspired by Versailles, it is important to choose the material that suits your theme.

Different shapes, textures, and colors of each stone can give different nuances. For a comfortable sensation, add plenty of texture, asymmetrical shapes, and deep, rich colors.

Going formal? Try a corner, flat pavers in a neutral shade.

5. Mix It Up
Some of the best parks are a blend of styles. Try breaking the rules. Combine textures and colors (such as slate slate and red brick) for a surprising pop color.

Did you know that pebbles come in color? Blend in bright and unconventional colors and patterns to enhance your creativity.

In Case of Emergency: When to Call an Emergency Electrician

Electricity is tricky.

And working with it can be dangerous.

When something goes funky with your electricity, it’s not like clearing a clogged drain or patching a hole in the wall. Electrical issues are best left to the experts.

Some electrical repairs are more dangerous than others.
If you’re wondering when is the right time to call an emergency electrician, here are eight situations that require immediate action:

1. Exposed Wires

Any time you see exposed wires, it’s a big deal. Exposed wires greatly increase the risk of electrocution and fire and remedy an immediate repair.

Period.

2. Wires in the Water

Like exposed wires, wires in water is really dangerous.

This situation is usually the result of nasty weather putting water where it normally would not be. (We will just casume soaking in water around your house.)

If someone or something comes into contact with the water or an object within the water, the outcome could easily be electrocution or fire.

If you see wires in water, do not hesitate to call an emergency electrician.

3. Smoking Outlets

Smoking is no longer cool. But it has never been for an electrical outlet.

This one should go without saying but if your outlet is smoking, there’s a serious problem. Turn off the circuit breaker and call the fire department.

Once you ‘re sure there’ s nothing burning in the wall, call an electrician to resolve the issue.

4. Only Your Electricity Is Out

If it’s only your home in the neighborhood that has lost electricity, that could be a bad sign. In this situation, you may need assistance.

It may not be dire situation, but it’s best to not take chances. Turn to a 24-hour emergency service to take care of the issue.

5. A Persistent Issue

If a particular appliance or source of light is giving you continuous problems for more than an hour, you’ll want to call an electrician right away for preventative repairs.

To call this an actual emergency may be a stretch, but the issue on the issue at hand and the nature of the appliance, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

6. Buzzing and Humming

Loud buzzing or humming from your child is annoying.

But when it comes from a breaker box, it can be extremely dangerous, as it often indicates a faulty breaker that has poor wiring or is failing to trip.

You really do not want to expose your home to a variety of electrical failures, so get an emergency electrician in there ASAP.

7. Burning or Pungent Smells

Smells that plastic burnt resemble should be taken seriously.

Sure, you can try to blame the bad smell on the cook in the kitchen, but in doing so, you’re quickly at risk of losing your home to an electrical fire.

That smell could indicate damaged wires in your home. So shut off power to the problematic area and call an emergency electrician right away.

5 Ways Everyone Can Improve Their Restaurant Management

They say to work smarter than harder, and the restaurant industry is no exception to this rule.

Sticking to an outdated management process while the competition continues to innovate will only keep you lagging in the long run.

As a manager, you will know that customer experience depends on food and service. Recent studies of Yelp customer reviews even show that customers react to bad restaurant experiences with signs of minor trauma!

No one wants to be responsible for it, so here are five ways to help improve your restaurant management.

Gather customer feedback

Gathering customer feedback is, and will always be the best place to start when you want to improve.

By asking them to fill out a short survey, leave an online review or comment card contents, you can see areas you like and areas that may need improvement.

Remember to remain impartial while reading your feedback-as hard as you can! Some things may be more useful than others, but it’s important not to waste feedback because you do not like them.

Bookkeeping software

Is your obsolete restaurant bookkeeping software holding you back?

Time is money and efficiency is always the key, so you need to look to save time wherever you can.

Newer, more up-to-date software will allow you to manage your inventory, see your menu costs, digitize your invoices and expenses.

You can even send a check to the vendor with just a few clicks, bringing the admin management time properly while maintaining a high level of transparency and efficiency.

Give your team the tools they need

It looks simple but can really make all the difference.

Fully stocked with linens, trays, cutlery, glasses and cushions means your team will have everything they need to do a good job.

Making sure you are properly equipped not only helps the team, it also helps maintain a high level of quality and consistency for the customer.

Poor old linens and unsuitable cutlery will not help your reputation.

Give your team a chance

Even if you are lucky enough to have a team full of loving and enthusiastic people with a natural inclination towards hospitality, incentivisation goes a long way to maintaining a high standard of service.

Set goals based on KPI and customer service targets and reward staff members who hit the markers.

You can even get into the competition to help ignite the fire of participation!

Hold a monthly team meeting

Not just customers who have important business insights to share.

Try holding a team meeting every month or quarter and collect feedback that the entire team has to offer – cooks, kitchen coolies, wait staff, and host.

There may be a process that causes friction across teams or slows down the service, thus bringing this issue into the open and trying out new ways of doing things.

It is important for the staff to feel like they have a voice, so let them talk!

Try applying some of these ideas and see the differences they can bring to your restaurant’s efficiency.

The Gnarliest Waves at Nazareé, Portugal: Not For the Faint-Hearted

The Gnarliest Waves at Nazareé, Portugal: Not For the Faint-Hearted

The little Portuguese fishing village of Nazaré is a surfing hotspot during the summer months, but in winter only the real thrill-seekers stick around. One of these is undoubtedly Garrett McNamara, the big wave big boy from the US, who in 2011 broke the record for the biggest wave ever surfed — and he smashed it right here in Nazaré.
Big Names, Bigger Waves

This monster wave measured 78 feet and in 2013 McNamara returned to Nazaré where he surpassed his own record, riding an absolute whopper estimated to be 100 feet tall. Later that year, Carlos Burle of Brazil conquered a wave that seemed even bigger, winning international recognition with surfers worldwide.

In 2014 Andrew Cotton from Plymouth followed suit, and is now known as one of the 4 surfers who have ridden the hugest waves around these parts. He started surfing when he was seven, so if you want to check out these waves you’re going to need a lot of practice or some pretty decent surf travel insurance…

Why Such Big Waves?!

Nazaré is such a Mecca for surfers because of its enormous waves, and these waves exist for our adrenaline-fuelled enjoyment thanks to the make up of its ocean floor topography. Just like Hawaii’s Banzai Pipeline, the Tahitian Teahupoo and northern California’s Mavericks (amazing surfing spots any surfer worth their salt know!), Nazaré’s ocean floor boasts a huge underwater gorge.

The Nazaré Canyon stretches 125 miles, starting barely half a mile from the shore and reaching way out into the abyssal plain of the Atlantic Ocean. At 16,000 feet, its unbelievable depth, coupled with its perfect positioning, helps to magnify the waves that approach the Praia do Norte beach in Nazaré. It’s because of this that almost every single day you can bear witness to monster waves up to 4 times the size of those found elsewhere along the coast.

Daredevils and Pros Alike: Surf Travel Insurance is as Essential as Board Wax!

It’s undisputed that tackling these waves is not for the faint of heart. Monster waves often move much faster than others, which forces boarders to get distance from the dangerous, frothy white water as fast as they can.

This kind of surfing is less about aesthetics than its tamer cousin: think extreme sport rather than showy carving, quick cutbacks and pretty floaters. This is about braving the aggro (bad weather), tough conditions and brutal waves while trying to remain upright and avoid reef injuries, wipeout, or even death…

While we wouldn’t recommend big wave surfing to those who aren’t pros, now is a good time to start planning your summer surf trip to enjoy the sun and sea at your (adventurous) leisure! Before you race off to enjoy the surf, travel insurance is a must-buy. Embrace the waves without the fear of monstrous medical bills should anything go wrong. You never know, with a little practice you could even be the next big name to be borne of Nazarés big waves! Surf’s up!

3 Ways to Stay on top of Your Taxes

The tax season is pretty much hated by everyone except us tax attorneys. But if you’re not ready, it can be a lot more painful than you think.

Here are three ways to make proper tax preparations and one step ahead of tax officials coming in March.

1. Budget by percentage, not total
For those of you who are self-employed, chances are you have a lot of income streams, perhaps with very different rates. If you work with clients, you may have multiple employment reports for different time periods and rates.

The result is a confusing tax situation, and a real challenge in predicting your annual income with all the precision.

To avoid getting caught, try budgeting by percentage rather than totally. Many self-employed service providers work on their annual earnings projections at the beginning of the year and save their taxes on them.

For example, if you plan to make $ 50,000 and you have a tax rate of 20%, you may be tempted to save like a madman in the first few months to cover your $ 10,000 liability.

But what if you did not make $ 50,000? What if you earn MORE than $ 50,000 and you have a higher tax liability?

By budgeting throughout the year with a percentage, you can control your savings better and make sure you have enough money to cover your tax expiration.

2. Digitize your tax records
Always, always digitized. If you have a receipt, take a picture with your smartphone. Scan and save signed PDF documents, contracts and statements every month.

And make sure you archive all your bank credit card statements as well as your business email. Then, return all this information into the cloud so you have a clear and clear record of what happened and when. The IRS can audit you until six years ago, so you may want to keep a record of paper so far.

But with cloud storage very cheap and easy, there is no real reason to destroy your digital data. It also means that you can draw records for years and years before you are audited to prove that the year in question is actually equivalent to previous years.

3. Avoid cash. Always.
Finally, the best way you can prepare for the end of the year is the tax rush to keep everything digital. Cash is hard to trace, hard to prove, and there is generally a disruption in terms of tax preparation. You want to avoid that but you can.

Fortunately, it’s not that hard. For business transactions, most small business traders or self-employed people work digitally.

If you’re frustrated with the level of fees charged by mobile payment processors like Square, it’s worth shopping around to find lower (lesser known) processors that cost less. If not, simply fold their pieces into your annual tax rate and call it a business expense. If IRS audit is as you see fit, you will be grateful for the digital paper trail.

There he is. Three great ways to prepare for the tax season.
